The last weekend saw us organise the 4th annual financial bursary fair at the Eaton Hotel where we were joined by Harrow International School, Hong Kong Academy, Oxbridge School, the Harbour School and Yew Chung International School.
It was noted by our MC Mr. Edric Paolo, recent graduate and valedictorian American School Hong Kong (ASHK) the differences he has noticed since starting at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, how the IB Diploma has helped him adapt to university life. We also discussed the importance of Chinese (Mandarin) in international schools and how more and more Mandarin is being used in Hong Kong.
International schools also took the time to introduce their schools, all had the common theme that they are “inclusive” schools, providing an international school education and offer scholarships and bursaries to the disadvantaged ethnic minority community in Hong Kong. It was noted by many schools that scholarship deadlines and application deadlines such as Harrow International School’s deadline of 1 November 2024 and Yew Chung International School’s deadline of 1 March 2025 are very important.
We then had the honour of hosting The Zubin Foundation co-founder Shalini Mahtani, MBE, Roshni Mulchandani, Development Director, the Harbour School and Yasmeen Ashraf Sayeed, Admissions and Enrolment Manager, Hong Kong Academy on a panel discussion. 3 powerful ethnic women who themselves graduated from ESF Island School and KGV, who are making waves in international schools’ admissions in Hong Kong. The common conclusion that all 3 ladies made is that it is not impossible for families to apply for scholarships and bursaries and that THS and HKA would welcome applications from members of the Hong Kong community.
We look forward to hosting the next event in October 2025!
