New Zealand are simplifying the investment visa. The new changes come in on the 1st April 2025.
There are two categories – “Growth” and “Balanced”.
Growth requires investment of NZD $5 million approx. HKD $22 million
Balanced requirements investment of NZD $10 million approx. HKD $44 million
The “Growth” category requires people to invest in Managed Funds and Direct Investment.
The “Balanced” category requires people to invest in bonds, listed equities, philanthropy and property development
Investors must invest over a 6-month period in principle and must transfer funds within 6- 12 months and in the case of the “growth” category must hold the investment for 3 years, must come to New Zealand for 21 days and complete a questionnaire about their investment activity. In the “balanced” category, investors must retain the investment for 5 years, spend a minimum of 105 days in New Zealand over the investment period. People are only eligible for a deduction by investing a minimum amount into Managed Funds or Direct Investment. i.e. NZD $11 million = 14 day reduction and must complete a questionnaire about their investment activity.
Investors must retain their active investor plus visa for 2-3 years. Applicants can then apply for a work visa to remain in New Zealand. Applicants will be eligible for Permanent Residency after 4 years. It should be noted that dependents (spouse) will be deemed visitors and dependents (children) will have to apply for student visa. There is no English requirement for this visa.
